HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR BOREHOLE WATER TO CLEAR?

Spring is around the corner and the warmer weather is on the way.  It also means our winter rains in Cape Town are coming to an end.  As a result, it’s back to watering the garden with municipal water unless you have a borehole.  This can become very costly with the price of municipal water.  If you are considering drilling a borehole the question may have crossed your mind, “How long does it take for borehole water to clear?” Read on!

After drilling a borehole it is necessary to flush it. This is to clear out any sediment, dirt and debris from the water.  Flushing takes place by opening the valve of the borehole. The water is allowed to flow for a duration of 24 – 48 hours.  As a general rule of thumb, once this has been completed it takes roughly 2 – 3 weeks for the water to run clear.  Please note that this is just a rough guideline.

TEST YOUR WATER

Once your borehole is drilled you will need to test the water. To test the water you need to take a water sample and have it analyzed through Bemlab which is associated with Pathcare. Once you receive your water analysis results you can contact us for a tailor-made water filtration system. This will directly address each of the issues that need to be sorted to make your water safe for drinking and indoor use.

A borehole is a sound investment because the cost of municipal water is always increasing.  As a result, using borehole water as opposed to council water will save you money.  Borehole water can be used both indoors (once properly treated) and outdoors.  With Spring on our doorstep, it’s easy to see how much money you will save on watering your garden, filling your pool and even using water inside your house.
